Hello, Am an engineer who is teaching a class in manufacturing. I wanted to use the Ipod and Iphone as an example to describe various manufacturing processes.

Can someone help...

1. What's the back bezel of the Iphone 3G made of? Plastic or cold worked stainless steel?

2. How do they inscribe the apple logo at the back?

Thanks. More questions to come...Want to be sure before I teach the class. Is there any website for the technically minded w/ this kind of manufacturing information...?

1. Back bezel? Do you mean the metal looking part surround the frame on the front? I believe it's made of metal of some sort, probably stainless steel. If you just mean the entire back, that's all plastic.

2. I believe the logo is just screened on with metallic ink.

Yes, you are right...I mean the back black cover with the glossy apple logo. I agree that it is plastic...Is it radio porous?

The bezel at the side is a stainless steel cold worked material...I saw their patent on it.

How about the glass? is it polishing and lapping to get the substrate polished?
