Many programs crashing, Photoshop, Lightroom, PTgui, Photomatix

MBP programs keep crashing. Photoshop, lightroom, PTgui, Photomatix.I reinstalled PS CS5 and that didn't help. I have searched and updated programs and then after most programs crashed I stopped trying to investigate an isolated error in any specific program. I then created a new user account and installed PS CS5 . Even though it didn't show up in the applications folder, I was warned by PS that it was already installed and it bypassed the install. All of the programs that were crashing in the other profile are working fine in the new profile. Is there any help with this.
