I just got a Mac PLus and I am trying to format a start disk.

Disk Utility offers a few options.

From what I found it needs to be FAT. But not sure what to choose between GUID, MBR or Apple map.

Can anyone give some light?

Sorry to say, but you're not going to be able to produce a working floppy disk for use on the MacPlus with a USB floppy drive and MacOS X.

The MacPlus uses an 800k floppy drive which can't be written by a 1.44MB USB Floppy drive. You may also need to write 400k (single sided) floppies for which the same applies. :(

You either need to purchase a disk ready-made (there is a guy who does this but the link escapes me right now), OR get an "intermediate" Macintosh running System 7.1 - but then, you'll need to be able to transfer disk image files to your "intermediate" Mac either by some other method.

And yes, it's not going to be easy. :(

Here is a resource which explains a lot -

Agreed. If you have an old SCSI hard drive, there are some additional options as well.
