Maps app directions extremely limited

I find this almost impossible to believe, but the Maps app does not let you do directions with more than 2 locations, and there is no way to manually modify a route to take a certain path.

For me the killer feature was the ability to send directions to my phone, but there is no point if it is not possible to create complicated or custom directions. If I just want the canned directions from point A to point B, that's already easy to do on the iPhone.

Would love for someone to tell me I've overlooked something obvious.

No Kilometers?

And it appears that all you get is miles, so in most places outside the US, you've got to do your own conversion.
