Apps Maps app turn-by-turn view

How in the heck do you get back to the turn-by-turn view (large arrow for upcoming turn) when you are in map view? Swiping something (I'm not really sure what) takes you out of turn view to a map with the turns in a very tiny box at the bottom. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get back to the large arrows. I've tried swiping every which way, buttons and force touching the screen. What's the secret?

A kind poster on the Apple support forums answered this for me. Tapping on the display takes you to the map view. There is a tiny arrow at upper left to return you to the turn view.
