Does the Maps application on the Ipod Touch work the same as with the Iphone? Will the Touch locate local wireless networks and approximate your location?

Thanks.

Maps question

Yes it does, but you have to plan your trip prior to leaving your access point. Also remember that you will not be able to zoom in and out because the tiles on the map are at a different resolution and will have to be downloaded.

Thank you.

So you are saying that the maps can't be stored internally for preview later?

Yes, but only for your current zoom level/route. Jailbroken iphone/ipod touch have an app that allows you to save multiple routes for offline viewing. May be will see this in the app store before long, as we have for most of the other third party apps.

One cool thing you can do with the 2.0 software is take screenshots by holding the home button and tapping the on/off button. It will save the image and then you can view it later. You could take a couple pics of different maps and views that you think might be helpful so you can view them later.
