Maps Sharing Location Problem

Using the Maps application in my iPhone 3GS. Having found a location and dropped a pin, I then take the option to share this location. When I do this by MMS to another iPhone, it works fine. When I select the Email option, it seems to work, but when the recipient gets the mail, and clicks on the link, a Google maps page opens with a non-sensical location. It appears as if the lat and long info is not correctly embedded in the link.
Any suggestions?
