Along with Illinois, Oregon is one of two states that prohibits U-Turns in almost all situations unless there's a sign you can specifically make one. Which makes the Maps app basically useless for me considering it suggests I make U-Turns all over the place.

Yay having my permit taken away! :D

A ticket, maybe. Not arrested.

And I've made UTurns when not posted in front of a cop and he didn't stop me. It might be against the law, but As long as the location makes sense I think they're fine. At least in Salem that's how it is.

Their is always a disclaimer saying only make the manoeuvres suggested if it is safe to do so and you are allowed. It's the same for all sat navs, not just for u-turns but also for just general directions.

I live in Illinois and you see no u-turn signs so I assume that means it is cool everywhere else when safe obviously.

Well if you know not to make a u turn don't do it. Just like if any GPS tells you to go down a one way, which happens pretty regularly in bigger cities. Just turn around where its legal to do so and maps will adjust.
Really don't see any issue here pretty standard among GPS directions.
