So a couple of weeks ago, I spilled a margarita literally all over my 5 month old MacBook Pro (paid about $2500). I never got AppleCare. I sent it in for repair, fully expecting to get a hefty bill because the keyboard was basically ruined and the trackpad was acting weird.
Apple just sent back my MBP (overnight shipping THEY paid for!) and replaced the following:
Topcase, with battery
Trackpad (which they noted the liquid indicator was tripped)
I/O Board
I FULLY expected to be paying at least $500-1000, if not needing a completely new computer, because this was 100% MY fault! They charged me nothing! They didn't even make me pay for the shipping to and from.
How does this happen? Did they look at ordering history and see I basically purchase about $5000 worth of Apple products each year? Did I get a nice tech, or just plain lucky? Surely, they have to have some sort of system to decide what happens in these situations? I can't imagine the "limited" warranty would cover such an event like this.
Nonetheless, just wanted to say how incredible of a company Apple is!
