Every other forum with a marketplace that I frequent has a rule saying that posts within the thread take precedence over private messages.
The reasoning was always explained that when selling in a public forum, the transaction should be totally transparent and the terms totally clear. Made sense to me.
This forum has no such rule and it still strikes me as weird.
I see many threads where the seller never bothers to update the sale status resulting in people having to inquire if the item is still available. If all transacting was done within the thread then there'd be no need for that.
I see threads where multiple people express an interest in an item only to find that someone else not even in the thread has already completed the purchase. Again, in a public forum that just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.
If a seller, for whatever reason, wants to keep all transacting done in private then that could be said in the initial posting and at least then there'd be no ambiguity.
Anyone else think this rule would be a worthwhile addition?
