I liked the old way better, where you could get in but not post new threads. Was surprised when I logged back in to look for those last two sticks of Mac Pro ram.

agreed

I understand the logic of it all, but I've had an account on here for years, mostly just reading...

Oh well, private site, they can do what they want!

Wow, I guess I have to start posting a lot more! I have an iMac G5 I'm looking to sell, but it looks like it will be a while before I qualify to get in on the marketplace.

Anyone have any idea how much a Rev B iMac G5 2Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 20" LCD would go for?

I don't quite understand the requirement for 250 posts before using marketplace. It seems like if more people visit it, there would be a greater opportunity to buy and sell. However, I can see how opening it up to newbies might cause it to lose some integrity. But 250 posts seems like overkill. But I'm sure MR owners/staff know what is best for the long-term viability of the site and are watching out for our interests as well as their own. Thanks be to them.

Yeah. I have less than a post a month, but I've been here almost six years without causing trouble. I see their point, but I wish they hadn't raised the requirements.

I like the idea, but I can't get in yet. I'm dying to finds deals on a mac

You are not missing much. All the sellers think their equipment is worth WAY more than it is. I've seen ibooks go for close to the price of a new macbook. Your best buys are either refurbs from Apple or on your local craigs list. Not here.Wow,

Looks like you found a way around the requirement. Some people put a list of the equipment they own in the signature with (for sale) next to any of it they don't need any more. But if you do that make some GOOD posts that are on topic
