To be clear, I have no interest in input or suggestions for other portable/small speakers. The Marshall speakers fit a design aesthetic I want in my house, and although it actually won't be used all that much, I would at least like it to be as good as the original Bose Sounddock I currently have, from 10 years ago. That's really the only bar it needs to meet in terms of sound quality, I can't imagine any of their current lineup wouldn't be at least as good as a 10 year old Bose?
I am looking at an Acton II (just Bluetooth, don't need the Amazon Alexa/Google Echo versions) or a Stockwell. That said, a local Target has the original Acton in stock for just $150 (vs. $250 for the Acton II). It looks a little different, but I can't seem to find any definitive specs to find out if the sound quality is any different between the two or if it's just the looks/bluetooth capability?
Any experiences with the Marshall products are welcome. Yes, I know I can probably get something "better" for the same price or less, but that's not what I'm interested in.
EDIT: Does the Apple store carry them? Apple's site doesn't seem to indicate that they do, but I swear I saw them there at one point in time. I have a gift card for the Apple store I need to use and this would be the thing to use it on.
