There has been a bit of a fuss on BBC news this morning about the Fields (mathematics) prize. I think the angle is that one of the winners is a woman for the first time, and that she is of Middle Eastern origin, albeit working out of Stanford.
In and of itself this is quite interesting and congratulations to her, but reading this article what struck me was that one of the other winners was Martin Hairer, creator of Amadeus Pro.
I use it all the time and have never regretted my purchase.
Sounds like quite a guy. Congratulations to him as well.
