Hi everyone,

I've had an Apple TV (2nd edition) for years now, and by ripping lots of TV boxed sets, I am able to see immediately what the next episode I want to watch is, as the old OS lists automatically by season and episode.

I bought a 4k Apple TV last year, but it was useless for this purpose, so I returned it.

Apple Support at the time, claimed that lots of people had complained about this, and promised that it would change in a forthcoming update. But despite seeing a few mentions of a "mark as watched" feature being put back, what I really need to know is has the old Apple TVs built-in ability to list TV shows by season and episode number been put back, and if not is it at least now easier to quickly find the first unwatched episode in a multi-season series?

I'd love to be able to stream movies in 4K, but as I mostly use the Apple TV to stream ripped TV episodes, this is the most important thing before I re-buy the 4K version.

Also, in two days of using the new touchpad remote, I found it far harder to use than the old button one. Is there much love for the touchpad version, or do people generally dislike it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

look at plex

it will do what you want.
and has been available on the aTV since the 4 first came out

Is this is an app I can load onto a 4K Apple TV?

It's available on the aTV, so yes you can "load it onto a 4k Apple TV"

if only you had access to a vast amount of information, where things are pretty easy to find, and on top of that, someone was nice enough to given you a link to take you right to the answer to your question before you asked it.

Click here ------>> Plex <<--------- whoops too far, go back and click that

all of your questions are answered on that site, and then some
I'm happy to answer specific questions, but if you can't be bothered to even click on a link to get some basics, why should i waste my time.

I did look, and it wasn't immediately obvious that it was an app for the 4k Apple TV. Just lots of glossy pictures, without much explanation. And I would hope you would appreciate that I didn't want to buy another Apple TV without being absolutely sure it would work on it, as opposed to needing a completely different device to run it on.

But what I find extraordinary is that you are prepared to spend more time typing a sarcastic reply. If you find a newcomers question so beneath your dignity, wouldn't it be better and nicer just to ignore it, and hopefully someone with a bit more impatience would answer it instead.

Please don't bother with another nasty comment, as I won't be coming back here, with people like you setting yourself up to answer even the most basic of questions with aggressive replies.
