Marvell 88E8055 Slow? (11 MB/s max?)

I have an older 2008 a1260 and am transferring large amounts of data.

I was convinced this could do more than 11 MB/s and my infrastructure can handle up to 115 MB/s - Is this a hard limit by something other than the Marvell chipset?

Any other options (maybe a expresscard 34)?
