OK, so I need a new SATA card does anyone know if the Marvell 88SX7042 controller is supported in PowerPC. I see vague references that it is the same controller as the Sonnett E4i SATA but no proof what says the PowerPC forum.
They don't work even when I just grabbed the kext out of the sonnet installer package..
Suddenly the AS media cards of which I have 2 decided to start working..All this drama you'd think I'd just break down and buy the sonnet.
can u find anything on the Silicon Image Si3112 SATA controller cards? i too am getting mixed information on these
PCIX worked fine in my 2.0dp
The x86 PC-SiI3112 cards don't work in the late 2005 G5 models, apparently the SeriTek and Sonnet cards do, but I've never got the chance to buy one. However, I managed to purchase a Tempo SATA E4i for 50 last week. That's basically the way to go regarding storage expandability in the PCIe G5s. There have been some Highpoint RocketRAID PCIe cards which initially supported OSX, but it wasn't really stable so they got pulled.
what about in a G4 MDD?
not sure about being bootable, i only ever looked into it to add storage to my server when it ran on a g4 (not a mdd, but it came up in discussion that it should work in a mdd)
What come to mind first, maybe try booting from it?i will use it to replace the IDE HDD and DVD Drive with my SATA DVD Burner and HDD how can i test if its bootable?

just hold the option key to find out what is bootable..
SiL tends not to be bootable in OSX
