Sarcasmville.
I have been using Mathematica for a short while for a maths course at uni. This is the latest version (I think, version 6) and runs in X11 in OS X.
I'm on a 2.33 17" MBP, 2 gig RAM.

So I'm using it for rudimentary stuff like solving 2 order DE's (really basic stuff, for the computer anyway). It's not in use constantly, so I'll leave it in the background for a while.

The 'memory leak' usually locks down my computer after a little while, I'll leave then return in a few minutes only to find my hard drive seeking away, the seconds on my clock not ticking (it's my hang/crash reporter). The most basic things will take about 10 minutes to happen. The MenuMeter in my menu bar says that I have about 15 mb of ram free! (from 2 gigs)

When I manage to open Activity Monitor (or my dashboard), my 'Page Outs' have gone nuts, the ratio of in/outs is in the range of 1:20+ and climbing, FAST! The only course of action is to force restart my computer.

I'll confirm this when I finish my last exam tomorrow morning. But I think, that even closing Mathematica when I'm finished with it, will still cause a memory leak!

If anyone has any idea, it'll much appreciated!
Sam
