hey guys,

so we should come up with a list with all of the common apple problems that you should look for when opening your mac for the first time (or whenever)

so just respond with things that we should look for (dead pixels, faulty headphone jacks, etc.)

also, solutions to common problems would be good as well

Screen striping
Faulty ram slots
Pitting anodising
Wobbly case
Wobbly screen
Poor fit with the "upper case" (the touch pad panel) and the bottom case.
All plugs, including the headphone jack, both physical and whether it outputs audio.
Check the latch to see it works properly.
That it is indeed a matte screen – if it's a glossy, return it at once ;)

Can be easily fixed by resetting the PRAM.

What thread was that from anyway :O?

Here are problems with the MBP that I have experienced. Still debating whether or not to call Apple yet.

1. Spotty wi-fi connection, drops out frequent enough to annoy me
2. Artifacts in Flash video playback after waking computer from sleep
3. Graphics tearing while scrolling in applications after waking computer from sleep

2 and 3 can be fixed by logging out and logging back in again, or by restarting. Of course this is pretty humbug, but it is a workaround. As always though, network problems always follow me.

Other than these three things though, I feel I have a wonderful system. It has never crashed on me and the screen quality is perfect with no dead pixels and I don't have the vertical striping issue. Headphone output is also perfect.

Some problems
- Wake from sleep without user intervention
- Spotty airport reception (usually fixed by using Apple airport products or updating router firmware)
- Certain key combinations not working (keyboard problem)
