Match Dynamic Range in tvOS 11.2 doesn’t work for AirPlay

Is anyone else seeing this issue? When Apple TV is set to output natively in 4K HDR, and the Match Dynamic Range option is turned on, the TV will stay in HDR mode if you AirPlay an SDR movie file from QuickTime on a Mac (or from another source).

However, when playing content directly on Apple TV (e.g. the Netflix app) the TV will correctly change for SDR content.
 
Looks like HDR metadata is not transferred in AirPlay's current implementation, then.
Just my guess. I have no idea how it's been programmed in real life.
