Hi there,
I come from Windows (booo!), I have a Mac Mini which I was planning to use at weekends for editing but turned out to be much faster than my Windows desktop so I am trying to use it all the time.

I have a windows keyboard - and I still have a Windows desktop. It's difficult to switch between the two systems and most shortcuts are different.

I discovered Karabinier-element which helps - but I'm not sure I can map all the shortcuts I am used to. Yes, I could try to get used to the macOS shortcuts but again, I haven't pushed my Windows PC out of the window (!) yet.

So, is there a simpler way to try to have macOS working with the same shortcuts Windows has?

I'm using Resolve for editing and I'm also hoping to be able to use the same shortcuts there.

Thanks!

I can't speak for advanced shortcuts, but the differences between both are things to which you will eventually become accustomed, over time.

Work is all-windows, and--having used both Mac&Win over many years--my hands just seem to know what to do, when.

I really don't have to think about it anymore.

Maybe, in your case, tape a print-out of the shortcuts for both systems (or have the cheat-sheet open a browser tab) in your line-of-sight.

Regularity breeds familiarity ;)

You're probably right, I might get used to this over time. It's difficult to change 30 years old habits. Particularly when I am dealing with macOS, Windows, Windows keyboard and macOS keyboard.

I have been using a Windows PC for over 30 years, but having bought a Mac 2 months ago, I have become completely accustomed to its keyboard and now when I sit down at a Windows PC, I press the Mac shortcuts. I think you will soon get used to it.

Of course I would - today I spent a few minutes searching for the shortcuts I am used to in macOS.

The issue is that I'll have to switch Windows/macOS - and then is where I start using the wrong shortcuts 🙂

I use a Mac and connect to Windows servers via RDP, there are some minor problems with using it, for example the Insert button or the combination CONTROL+ALT+DEL, but in general it's ok to live with. I installed Karabinier-element, but I still haven't configured it :)

Thanks @bogdanw - this is helpful!

Yes, a mac keyboard would help but I'm sharing the same desk with Windows and I'd like to avoid two keyboards. I could replace my one keyboard with a Mac one, sure.

I think you are right though, It's been a few days and I am getting more used to macOS shortcuts. Thank you all!
