Maths symbols not showing up in a weird pdf problem?

Hey i have this problem. whenever i see this pdf in a windows pc, i see the symbols +, - and times that seem to not be appearing whenever i open the same pdf in my 15 inch may 2010 macbook pro. What is goign on.

Attached is example, see how the signs are missing?
