I was wondering if there is anyone out there currently using the latest version of Matlab that was released (7.4) that adds full native support for the Intel processors in OS X. I have been currently running the student beta version (7.3, 2006b) on my MacBook, but am going to start doing some heavy, embarrisingly parallel simulations that is going to need a workstation class computer.
More specifically, I was wondering how 7.4 runs in comparison to other versions on similar hardware (x64 XP, x64 linux). I am also curious to see the usage/efficiency of multiple core/multiple processor units. What I would really like to know is if a Mac Pro is going to give me as good performance for a simarly spec'ed machine running x64 Linux (or x64 XP), and if it is reasonable to assume a dual quad 3.0 GHz MacPro would out do a dual quad 2.66 GHz under Linux.
