Hi,

As I understand it (I might be wrong), the problem with using matlab's java-based front end is that rosetta cannot invoke the ppc jvm that comes with matlab (or something along these lines). I know this is naive, but if that is indeed the case, isn't it possible to replace matlab's ppc jvm with a link/copy of the intel java?

If this has been tried before, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find it.

I think the problem lies with the fact that a PPC binary app running under Rosetta cannot call an intel binary or universal app. Therefore, even if you tried to tell Matlab to use intel version of Java, it would not be able to communicate with it.

Thanks, I should've guessed it wouldn't be as simple as that. Oh well, by the time those merom mbp's arrive, mathworks would have their mac/intel matlab ready.
