Hey everyone,

I have noticed an issue with my DVD drive of late, in that it doesn't read any kind of disc -- be it a DVD or audio CD.

It just takes in the disc, spins about a few times and spits it back out. On trolling through the internet I see that many people have had similar issues, but the only fix so far has been for models that aren't similar to my own.

My drive specifications are:

Disk Description : MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868
Connection Bus : ATAPI
Connection Type : Internal
Burn Support : Apple Shipping

And furthermore:

MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868:

Firmware Revision: KB19
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO

I really don't want to have to buy a new drive, I am past my warranty I think.

Thanks a lot!
