I have this laptop I am looking at, and its matte not glossy, is there really an advantage having a glossy one? or nothing to worry about?
Is it really noticable?
Whats glossy for ?

There are a lot of other threads that people talked about this. Glossy are more for if you're into watching movies/gaming. Matte is more for if you need true colors like for photo editing. In the end it just comes down to preference, so you should check them out at an Apple store or wherever. I decided to get the matte with my new MBP today.

I have a glossy screen myself on my 15" SR MBP.. loving it very much.
It's much more vibrant than the matte screen, colors are more saturated. But I can see reflections if I use it in a bright place..

i've been using a glossy screen since forever... my recently purchased refurb SR MBP is a matte
and? do you prefer matte now because you got tired of seeing relfections or youd go back to glossy? what was the reason behind it?

I've never owned a glossy, but from all the comments about reflections at certain angles and stuff like that would compel me towards the matte screen; if I was in the market for one that is. ;)

I love this mate vs glossy thread, my old annoying friend who comes around from time to time. :D
I'm not in the graphic business so I got a glossy one.
The colors are rich and the blacks are deep.
Gorgeous display!

Ok.. think I got this one resolved for good...

I wish...

I wish a screen could do both Matte or Glossy with a toggle, complete with multi-touch, and self-cleaning feature with anti-scratch technology. It just hasn't been invented yet by Apple.

So, if I occasionally work outside on my porch, then I assume that Matte is the way to go?

Brilliant :) Like those glasses that dim once you walk outside

For me I love glossy because its easier on my eyes to read text especially word and safari.

But I love the matte because of pictures/movies.

Since I read more than I watch movies and look at pictures I would go with the glossy. Also some prefer movies on glossy.
