Whats the difference?

I will be buying the new update MBP.

I will eventually be using it at College as I will be studying Digital Design in Graphic Art, Video, WebDesign etc..

What does everyone recommend?

I personally prefer matte. Try to search around in the forum, this topic has been beaten to death.

Get glossy if you're going to be watching movies, playing games, and general use.

Get matte if your notebook is for work. If you're a graphic design artist, video editor, etc...

I record audio, but I use my MBP for playing games, movies, and college. I got glossy.

Colors look richer in glossy.

The glossy really boasts the colors, but there will be a glare with any fair amount of light and acts as a mirror half the time. The matte screen doesn't give off a glare, but the colors are not boasted as much as with the glossy.

My perspective on this is to do with dust. The glossy screen on my MacBook is an insane dust magnet and it takes a lot of effort to get it off because the bezel is quite deep.

Matte screens don't get as dusty and don't show the dust like glossy ones do. For this reason alone I'd always get matte.

If you're doing design, don't you want your colors to pop? That's just my opinion.

Get glossy. I have no personal experience with MBPs, but from reading hundreds of pages/forumns on this topic, glossy seems to be the wise choice.

They both have their pros and cons, but for me, the pros on matte outweigh that of the glossy, so I say matte. I want to be able to see my screen where ever I am.

I just had to note the irony of your starting a glossy v. matte thread after the "too many MBP update questions" thread you started. This might be the second-most commonly asked question on this forum. :D

It's true that the blacks look richer and the colors are slightly more saturated on the glossy screens, but the glare you get from them in most environments, indoor or outdoor, i would say, negates any benefit that they have. I'm in design, and people I know who use them do complain about the glare. I also have a friend who's a photographer who uses a 17" hi-res MBP and loves it, and has no problem with the color depth on it, if that says anything.

Glossy = grrr!

Reflections are so annoying.
But I will agree with those who don't need it for photography etc that the colour boost in glossy is great. It's just not for me. If you can live with reflections then get glossy :)

Matte verses Glossy

hi guys, i was just wondering whether glossy or matte was better. Can u guyz post some pics of them both please. Thanks a lot:D

Has anyone ever compiled a "most asked questions on MacRumors" survey? I'm sure this would be in the top three.

OP - search the forum please - it's been done to death.
