Maverick Upgrade

I know to 5 mac is rumoring a late October release date for Mavericks. If this is the case then does anyone think they will do a free upgrade for new Mac Purchases two weeks before the release? Also does anyone know what Apple's track record on this is?

I'm pretty sure (dont quote me on this) that all purchases up to 1 month before the release of the newest OS X version qualify for a free upgrade.
