After a few post-installation hiccups, I think I have overall seen an improvement in performance on my 2011 2.7G i5 iMac 27, 12 GB. Well, I'm not too sure about nuts n bolts performance (I haven't benchmarked or used any of the techie tests so I can use some kind of arbitrary number as a measure), but by seat of the pants, it is running fine. I have seen a number of improvements overall, some are advertised features, some are little quirks that have disappeared. Thankfully, I have none of those serious problems that some have reported here.
One odd change though, has been with iPhoto. For simple photo management, iPhoto is sufficient for my needs. When I was running 10.6.x, iPhoto would start almost instantly after clicking, and all photos were immediately accessible. Since upgrading, it's up to a minute or so before iPhoto is running the way it used to run. All other applications seem to be running the same as they always did.
Dysfunction or just a quirk? Not that it ruins my day, but it does sort of stand out. I have gotten spoiled on all of my "instant on" mac applications since switching from Windows. It seemed back in my Windows days that so many applications had to "warm up" before I could actually use them.
Anyway, just wondering if others have had the same experience.
