A hobbyist here. I tried a search and nothing useful turns up for me. I think I'm having some issue with the way iOS8 does authentication with a Mavericks Server.

I have Websites running on my 3.1.2 Mavericks server with a few users defined for access.

I use Compressor to prepare a Video for HTTP Live Streaming folder and load the folder on the server.

I use a laptop to view the video. I enter the username and password once and the video plays fine.

iOS7 devices don't seem to have a problem either.

I try an iOS 8.1.2 device to access the same video (safari or chrome browsers). I'm asked to enter the user name and password two or three times and then it just sits there with a download in process spinning wheel and one of those graphics with the play triangle symbol. When I use the Mercury browser, however, I enter the username and password once and the video plays.

I load the same folder onto a go-daddy server (password is set for the parent folder). After entering the username and password, every device can view the video without issue.

I allow everyone access on the Mavericks server and every device can view the video without issue.... no username or password needed.

Seems something in the Mavericks server access control scheme is not compatible with some of the iOS device browsers.

Anything I should try that may correct the issue?
