I recently went to give an important speech on a long trip. I had just upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.3. I went to practice and to my horror my Powerpoint 2011 program no longer ran and just kept freezing. I spent 2 days and nights on both apple and microsoft help, deleting duplicate fonts, etc etc. Finally I did a complete uninstall of Office after trying every fix and then reinstalled a trial version, on the advice of a number of forums. I am now home and have just reinstalled my original version of Office 2011 14.2. Everything is working. I am afraid to update OSX to 10.9.4 and Office to 14.4.3. This last episode was so traumatic and exhausting.

What do you experts recommend about this? Should I keep everything the way it is since it is working or should I risk it and update both? I am not an expert in any way, just a public speaker who is now terrified. Nothing like that had ever happened to my trusty 2011 Macbook Pro which I bought to take to speeches.
