I performed a clean install of Mavericks. Before doing so, I cloned my drive with Super Duper (latest release) to an external USB drive. I then used migration assistant to copy my data (NOT apps) from the cloned drive, and then re-installed the bulk of my apps by downloading my purchased apps from the Mac App store. I then proceeded to install some other non-app store apps. So far so good, everything is going great.
Then I start reading about the brouhaha about the iWork apps on the Mac, how they got watered down, etc., etc. I also read how the old versions were being moved to a folder upon installing the latest versions. I thought to myself 'OK, I have the old versions on my cloned drive - I'll copy them back to my machine for safe keeping, in case I need them'. I plugged in my external clone, navigated to the Applications folder, and discovered that just about all of the Apple apps - pre-installed and purchased - were gone! The only apps left in the folder were the other apps I purchased from the Mac App store or installed from other sources. It seems at some point Mavericks, in its ultimate wisdom, decided to delete the older versions of these apps from the clone drive! Has anyone else experienced this?
Fortunately, I have multiple machines and the others are still running Mountain Lion. I'm going to copy the legacy versions of the iWork apps to a network share and then try to pull them down to an alternate folder on the machine running Mavericks.
