Mavericks: Hard Drive Changes Require Authentication

Hi guys and gals,

Thanks for this forum, looks quite helpful.

I just upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. It appears I now need to authenticate any file added to, or removed from, my hard drive.

I've been doing fine without this feature for 20 years. Is there anyway to turn it off? Been looking all through System Prefs, and don't see anything. Did I miss it?
