After a clean install of Mavericks, how much disk space does the OS take?

I am not asking about the 5.3 gigs needed to download the compressed OS file, but how much disk space a freshly installed, complete version of Mavericks OS takes up.

Less than 10 Gb. Can be as little as 7Gb. With iWork and Garageband, it'll be more.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. Reason I asked is because I went from ML to Mavericks (no clean install) and I am trying to find out where some of my disk space went.

I mean I see a lot of "other storage" and I dont get were it came from

Thanks again

A clean new install without additional apps will take approx. 11 to 11.5 GB in space. That is indeed an improvement from ML which used about 16GB.

Just in comparison, Windows 7 will take around 20 GB and Windows 8 sucks up 24 GB.
