My 2009 MacBook has 4 GB of RAM and still has the 2009 version of iLife. Wondering how well it would do with the new Mavericks apps. On another thread I read of slowdowns. Also noticed the new versions are huge programs. Will my MacBook choke on them?

It's not that the performance of iwork on mavericks is terrible, but office 2011 is way faster. So I see no point of using iWork if office is much better and a lot faster.

What?? Office 2011 takes forever to open on my mac and iWork is only a few seconds. Other than that, what kind of speed difference would you possibly see between the two? In what situations would iWork be slower?

I use both Office 2011 and the new iWork on my MacBook. I use iWork if I don't need to send the file to a PC, but if I absolutely need the file on a PC too, I use Office. On mine, iWork is much better in terms of speed, but in usability, Office is better.
