I have yet to install yosemite, but with mavericks on my secondary mac I immediately noticed how it wants the administrator password to accomplish all kinds of routine finder operations. I'm on mountain lion right now on my main mac, and I would like to put yosemite on my new mac mini but this constant asking for password for everything is irritating and maddening. Is there any way to shut this crap off?

That's likely happening due to a permissions problem. If you can, open Disk Utility and have it repair permissions.

Sometimes the keychain can be locked (in the same way a system preferences panel can be locked in order to prevent unauthorised changes)
