Hi Guys,
Whilst trying to repair my 2008 24" alu imac I bought a 2006 24" white imac thinking I could use the parts....
I cant - nearly all the parts are totally different
So, I'm looking at replacing the logic / mainboard of a white 24" 2007 imac. Currently the part is 820-1984-A and I'm guessing I'll need to replace like for like, no issue, I'm looking around $150USD for a tested working on.
Currently the processor is a T7400 (SL9SE) 2.16 C2D Socket M. Whats the fastest replacement my imac would take?
The 2008 alu was E8435 (SLAQD) 3.06 C2D Socket P (Penryn) and I've googled and found various places where Socket P and M are swappable.
Has anyone done this?
I'm also wondering - I know the 2006 white mainboard is DOA, but how can I test the CPU, If I have to replace the logicboard and CPU I may as well buy another complete unit.... Any ideas?
