After one week of using both my current 16 Pro Max and new 17 Pro Max, the allure wore off quickly. I’ve always been a ‘buy the best’ type of dude when it comes to Applewear, but this time is different. I switched from a 2020 MacBook Pro to a base 15 inch Air and was pleasantly surprised. Decided to do the same with my phone. Max to base 17. Lighter (wallet) way of living.

This year has been very apparent , the difference between pro and normal Apple products.

Jw if anyone else made the switch?

I did this years ago when I upgraded from my 12 pro max to the base 13. After 1 week I regretted my decision. I missed the larger screen and battery life for the slight smaller shape and weight which only made a difference to me when going for a run.

Since then I went to a 15PM and now the 17PM, no going back for me.

The difference between the base model and the Pro isn’t as significant anymore, with the standard iPhone 17 offering impressive performance for $400 less.

I opted for the Pro this time since I’ve never owned Apple’s top model and wanted the best performance possible for AAA gaming. Still, the regular 17 is more than capable and would have met my needs easily. I ultimately chose the Pro for its added power and long-term future-proofing, as I plan to keep it for about 4 years.

The 16PM is still very good. Unless the size or weight bothers you, why switch to the base 17?

Not buying anything is even easier on the wallet.

We have older iPhones than the 16PM and they work fine.
