Max memory for MBP 2011(unibody)

Hi All,

This has probably been asked before... but... does anyone know what the max ram you can have in an MBP 15" 2011 machine is? I've done a bit of research but can't seem to find anything definite?... would I be right in saying 8gb?

Yes, it has been asked before.

No, you wouldn't be right in saying 8GBs, if you're asking about the unofficial max RAM.

i think on the 2011 models with sandy bridge its 16gb of ram on the 2010 and 2009 its 8gb

16GB, as of now, because 16GB SO-DIMMs don't exist yet, but theoretically they can accept 32GB.

A google search would've told you as much.

That may be a false statements. The i7 CPU's are able to handle 32GB because some gaming laptops have 4 ram slots. I highly doubt these logic boards will support more than a 8GB chip.
