Sorry for the lame title.

My '08 MBP is the last edition before the unibody. It has 4GB of RAM and I want to upgrade it to the factory max of 6GB. OWC sells kits for this which include one 4 and one 2GB stick. Can I just keep one of the 2s that I have now and install a new 4GB stick? Do they need to be matched by production batch or something?

Also, does anyone still make a HD sled to replace the optical in these older units?

Yes, you can keep the 2gb stick you have in there, so long as they are the same type, they are match, no need to run the same brand even.

Yes, ebay has them, I saw a link in an older thread somewhere. Be aware your optical drive has a PATA connection, so what you'll need is something with a PATA to SATA converter.
