I have an aluminum macbook (late 2008 edition) and I'm trying to get a 1920x1080p display on my tv. My tv is a 1080p 40" toshiba. I can mirror my macbook's display on the tv but it isn't in 1920x1080p resolution. My question is this: what is the maximum resolution my macbook can support when it is in clamshell mode connected to my tv? Btw, i'm using a mini displayport adaptor to vga. My tv has a vga port.

The maximum resolution supported on an external display is 2560x1600. The specs for your model are here.

You can find specs on all Apple products:
