Im upgrading my 20" external monitor to a 24"
1680 -> 1900

What is the max resolution my macbook's x3100 can handle?

Sorry to bump such an old thread but will the GMA X3100 support a 28"? the res is 1900X1200 so i would think so.

Because the GPU is only working on what to display on those pixels and not actually acting as a power source, size of the display panel itself has nothing to do with anything unless it contains more pixels.

So the chip won't be working harder?

The fans run watching youtube pushing a 20" at 1680x1050
