Max speed while tethering?

I get about 50 mbps down on average.


Yet when using wifi to tether I stay in the 20-30mbps ball park.

When I use USB I got the full 50 mbps down.


Is the iphones wifi speed limited? or is it just me?

It's a hardware limitation.
