In terms of workflow, what’s your opinion on getting a top of the line 15” MBP and a 5k display versus getting a 5k iMac and an relatively inexpensive MacBook, either the 12” or 13”?
I think the cost of the two scenarios is about the same. Although I think in the long run buying one Mac (15” MBP max’d out) is less expensive as the 5k display is less likely to be obsolete than a Mac.
Currently I have a 2009 5,1 Mac Pro and a 2010 15” MacBook Pro.
The most demanding thing I do is basic 4K video editing once in a while, sometimes also including some Motion graphics work. I may dabble in using Logic in the future, but I think Final Cut is more demanding on the Mac than Logic.
