2 generations ahead, but slower. In real-world tests too. What is up with Intel?!

you will always be able to find videos about a specific side of view
f.e. (start 3:27)

i am watching EAP-Channel myself, but he is not that of a tech guy.
remember his video about the 4 port charging? it was clearly his mistake but he "sold" it differently.

No reason to diss Intel about this. It's becoming extremely difficult to design chips as they get closer to the 10nm process. That's why Intel now uses a three step refinement of each generation and that's why Moore's Law has been finished for years.

The amount of computing power the best Haswells and Skylakes can offer is a lot more than most people use. Efficiency has improved and support for new codecs and IO have been introduced. Kabylake continues the trend.

But YouTube videos needs impressions otherwise they don't make money so who cares about facts?

Apple configured the CPU to 35 Watts of TDP. It is up to the manufacturer to do this. Not Intels fault per se. Apple decided to make them thinner, therefore the Wattage had to go down to 35 (from 45). Easy.
