Hi,
I'm toying with buying an Apple refurb Intel 13" 2020 4xTB machine, *specifically* to use in one of the Brydge vertical docks (not the new one with all the ports, but the original that just passes through the two left-side TB ports). I've been seeing reports from around the release of the machine that indicated an issue when charging and using TB peripherals on the left side of the machine, that would result in heating and significant throttling, that didn't occur when charging on the right side.
A potential problem for a dock that is specifically for the left side of the machine.
The goal is Laptop -> eGPU (potentially Razor Chroma, so it handles displays, power delivery, ethernet, usb etc as well) with a single cable.
So was the thermal issue a software bug that was addressed, or is it a fundamental compromise in the machine (ie you just charge it from the right)?
