My 3GS does exactly the same when i hold it. It went from 3G 4 bars to Edge 2 bars in about 15 seconds of picking it up. Putting it down returns it to 3G.

Either that or Apple are just crap at making phones!

I don't know what's going on, but I have a 3GS and I don't experience this with my phone no matter how I hold it. Who knows...

Funny thing is, I never used my 3G or 3GS without a case.. and now I'm bothered by the fact that I pretty much need one..

iPhone is a wonderful device but the phone function is poo. It definitely does it with my 3GS, but when i hold it with my right hand, covering the back

*jobbs

and yes, those are the only two answers here

a) Jobbs is right
b) Apple is crap

I know everyone else corrected you already, but I find it funny how you correct someone else like you know what you're talking about. tard.

Sounds like you're just bitter because your parents would only get you the free after rebate backflip or something, and you desperately wanted an iPhone.

My mind is blown, My 3GS does exactly the same albeit not to the point of dropping calls. It's funny cause I'm left handed and ALWAYS hold my phone "wrong" and I've never noticed it.

I sent my brother my old 3GS updated to 4.0 and he told me, side by side vs his 3G running 3.1.3, the 3GS reports fewer bars than the 3G in the same locations.

Yes, your hand is creating noise. iOS is designed to drop signals with more noise and find signals with the less noise. Not rocket science to see whats going on people.

+1 Amen Brother

My 3GS is like Gold best phone ever and I think so far it was the best phone Apple produced with the least amount of issues.
