I updated to the iphone 4. I had two old phones, the 3G and 3GS, giving both of them to my son. With the 3G, I told him to completely erase all contact and settings which he did. No sim card in it. He was going to use it as a itouch. Now it will not run programs. It just waits to be activated. I know now it was dumb, should have done more research.

Since this happened to the 3G, I just deleted everything manually on the 3GS and the sim card was in it. Now he can use it as a itouch but all my info is on the sim card. Can I take it out or erase it somehow?

Thanks all.

Thanks. I should also say that I want the 3G iPhone to be used only as a itouch.

Plug it to iTunes and restore it.
Leave the sim in so it activates after the restore. When it asks you to restore from backup or setup as new phone select setup as new
Then take out the sim and give him the phone. It will work as an iPod touch.

Just perfect. Thank you so much.
