Hello,

I just bought an iPhone 4S from an Apple store, the unlocked 16GB 650USD model.

However, when I turn it on, it stops me at the "SIM Activation" screen, and tells me I need a SIM card to activate. Is there any way to do this without a SIM card? Or if not, may I just use an old T-Mobile sim card cut down for the purpose? Please let me know! I did a bit of searching on google and bing (yeah... :(), however, nothing pertaining to a factory unlocked iPhone 4S came up.

I'm intending on using it as (basically) an iPod touch for the time being.

Thank you very much!

Totally concur with AJ on this. I just bought a white factory unlocked 16gb GSM 4S for my daughter 3 days ago. Activation was easy, just make sure you have a sim inside the phone, wifi network available and you will need to an apple Id. Pop in the sim and just follow instruction on the phone to activate it.

Thank you both very much :)

It worked, my iPhone 4S is now activated off of an old, cut down, & deactivated, cingular SIM. I'd +rep both of you, however, there seems to be no such system here on MRf, so I'll just vote up your posts instead, and hope that counts for something. I'll stick around to help others the best I can.

Thank you!

Enjoy your new phone Jeremy,

To be honest, I am here for a while and I don't know how the vote up/down button work either. I am not paying attention at this at all, I am here to learn, having fun while helping others if I can on Iphones's relate topic. ;)
