Here is exactly what I want to do. eSIM one used just for phone and text but have data (4g lte or 5g) as backup. eSIM two just for data (4g or 5g lte)

Is this possible ?

Guessing no.

I would need a normal sim instead.

On iPhone 12, it is only possible to use one eSIM at a time even if the phone has more than one stored. I'm pretty sure there is an Apple Support article with exact details if you're interested.

Ok.

Probably best to get the official word on Apple's website if you're looking to drill down. My guess is that if 12 doesn't do it, 11 doesn't either.

Is it easy to switch a eSIM to a normal SIM ? Just asking.

I hope not. SIM swapping is a major criminal problem now, especially since so many payment services let people use SMS for 2-factor authentication.

Yes, if you are the primary account holder or an authorized user on the account. You can buy a SIM card and go onto your line on the website to “Change Sim”. You can activate eSIM the same way.

Do you all think iOS 14.5 or later will ever allow the use of two eSIMs at once ? Or is it not possible at all no matter what?
