Apple did a fairly big upgrade under the hood on the iPad Air 2 but the software isn't there to fully support it. There's no split screen mode, multi-user support, limited multitasking support, same basic Safari browser, etc... This was a main criticism of most of the reviewers and it was dead on. This criticism would be even more true if Apple were to release an iPad Pro. My theory is that Apple is going to release these enhancements when the iPad Pro rolls out and they'll apply to the iPad Air 2. The two models would complement each other just like the MacBook Pro and Air models do now.
